Why didnt Harry Potter ask Ginny to the Yule Ball?

i was just watching Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire ( i never read the book) and i was wondering.... if it was sooo hard for harry to get a date with that black haired girl who iz totally not his type :/ why did he not ask ginny ..... from a girls mind to yhurs xoxo-Parris
